Dear Greene School Families and Caregivers:
The return to school this year will be unlike any other, and the health and safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. It is the goal of the Greene Elementary School to provide families and caregivers with all of the important information you need to make the transition back to school as smooth as possible. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact the school. We will be in touch with updates to this and other plans as the school year progresses.
It is imperative that we have updated contact information so we can reach you to share information and in case of emergency. Please be sure to update your profile sheet with your contact information (updated phone numbers, email address, and home address) and approved people who can pick-up your child. You can also email Mrs. Zitano at email@example.com with this information.
Only students and staff will be allowed in the building. If you need to speak to a staff member please call, email, or send a note. Meetings will be conducted via phone or video conferencing.
Everyone- students, staff, parents and guardians- will wear masks that cover their nose and mouth while on school grounds. Students will have 3 mask breaks throughout the day during breakfast, lunch, and snacktime. Please wash reusable masks often.
Six feet of social distancing will be required throughout the day for all students and staff. There will be 6 foot markers throughout the building and grounds to assist with this new policy.
BATHROOM PROCEDURES AND PROTOCOLS
Each class will have an assigned bathroom and 3 bathroom breaks per day. Bathrooms will be sanitized between each class. No more than 2 students will be in the bathroom at a time. If a student has an emergency and needs to use the bathroom outside of their assigned bathroom break, they will sign in and out of their class log and use the nurse’s bathroom.
Each student will sanitize their hands upon arrival to their classroom each morning. Students will be encouraged to wash/sanitize their hands frequently throughout the day, and all students will wash their hands prior to eating and following using the bathroom. All classrooms will have sanitizer, soap, paper towels, cleaning supplies, and gloves.
Each class will have a half-hour recess each day. Classes will have their own assigned area to play in and will not share space with other classes. The use of toys and playground equipment is prohibited, and all students and staff will wear their masks and maintain 6 feet of social distancing.
All students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will enter the building between 8:50-9:05 using their grade level’s designated entrance.
*Please get students to school on time! Our doors will be open from 8:50-9:05. Students who arrive after 9:05 will enter the building using the Main Entrance. A parent/guardian will wait in line with their child on a designated mark (to ensure 6 feet of social distancing) outside of the Main Entrance and check in one at a time with the staff member at the door. If students are significantly late and no one is posted at the door, their parent/guardian will ring the buzzer and wait with their child until a staff member meets them at the door.
Dismissal will be staggered this year, please see the schedule below and be sure to be on time, have your mask on, have your ID ready, and respect social distancing. Classes will line up at 6 foot markers behind their teacher and parents/guardians will line up at 6 foot markers in front of teachers. Those picking up need to be on the pick up list and provide identification until teachers know them. We understand that this is a different procedure from previous years and may be inconvenient for parents picking up multiple children, however this is necessary for safety reasons. Please also note that there is a limited time for dismissal, therefore any conversations with staff will have to occur another time, please contact the school to schedule a time to talk.
*It is essential that you pick up your children on time! (See DISMISSAL schedule above). Any students who are not picked up during their designated time will be brought to a central location where they will wait to be picked up. The person picking up must be on the student’s pick up list and will go to the Main Entrance at 3:15 with proper identification. The office will check identification and give a late pick up slip, which will then be brought to the Jackson St. door where they will retrieve the student(s). Parents who are habitually late will be required to meet with administration and a report may be filed with the Department of Children and Families.
Students will bring their Chromebooks to school when they are here for in-person learning and bring them home for use while they are remote learning.
