Bruce Santerre Pic

BRUCE SANTERRE, Class of 1966

An all-state pitcher in 1966, Santerre compiled a 16-4 record over three seasons and in his junior year struck out 116 in 71 innings. Named to the All- Bristol County team his final two years, Bruce tossed a one-hitter against Bishop Stang High School as a senior and struck out 19 in a game against Fairhaven as a sophomore.

 

 

 

 


Bob Kelly Pic

BOB KELLY, Class of 1975

Kelly’s major sport was baseball where he led the Hilltoppers in hitting during his final two seasons, batting .437 as a junior outfielder and .500 in 1975 where he also posted a 2-1 mound record. A two-year All-Scholastic performer, Kelly also led Durfee in home runs and triples during his final year and was a member of the Red & Black’s basketball team.

 

 

 

 


Tim Griffin Pic

TIM GRIFFIN, Class of 1984

Griffin was named to the Boston Globe All-Star team on defense and was Durfee’s representative in the Shriners game. Tim also qualified for the state meet for two years in the shot put and the high jump as a senior. Griffin ’s major accomplishments came on the gridiron where received the Don Trevisano Memorial Trophy as the Hilltoppers’ best lineman in 1983 and was on the Herald News All-Scholastic team as a junior and senior.

 

 

 

 


Cindy Mello Pic

CINDY MELLO, Class of 1986

A four year member and of the Durfee softball team, Mello was named All-State and selected to the Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Star teams as a senior and the Herald News and New Bedford Standard Times All-Scholastic teams as a junior and senior. Mello was a captain in softball and field hockey. Cindy was the softball most valuable player and co-athlete of the year as a senior. She also was a starter on the Hilltoppers’ basketball team for two seasons.

 

 


Tom D'Ambrosio Pic

TOM D'AMBROSIO Class of 1987

D’Ambrosio was a four-year varsity basketball performer. Tom eclipsed the 1,000 point scoring mark and still holds the free throw percentage record of 91 percent (52-for-57. He led all-Durfee scorers as a sophomore and junior. D’Ambrosio was named to the State Division One All-Scholastic team and selected on the Boston Globe, Boston Herald, The Herald News and New Bedford Standard Times All-Scholastic teams. He also was a High School All-American as a senior. He batted over .300 as a junior infielder on the baseball team.
