Ginny Plasski Pic

GINNY PLASSKI (CLASS OF 1979)
Plasski was an All-Scholastic performer in both basketball and softball. She set the standard in both sports for future Durfee athletes. Ginny led the Hilltoppers  in scoring and rebounding on the basketball team as a senior and put together an outstanding career on the softball diamond, splitting duties between shortstop and was among the team's top pitchers.

TIM WHITE (CLASS OF 1984)
White is the only high school athlete to win the Vince Lombardi Award as the area's outstanding lineman for two consecutive years. On the gridiron, Tim played center, offensive tackle, linebacker and defensive end over a four-year varsity career. He gained All-State honors and represented Durfee in both the Shriners and harry Agganis All-Star football games. He also was a main contributor to the boys basketball team as a junior and senior.

SARAH WILCOX COUSINEAU (CLASS OF 1987)
Wilcox is the best female cross country and spring distance runner ever to wear the Red & Black. Her two-mile record of 11:19.6 in spring track is 40 seconds better than any other Hilltopper runner and her 11:35.6 mark in winter track remains a standard. Sarah won 33 of 36 cross country meets, finished second in the other three and holds the old course record. She was a four-year All-Scholastic performer in all seasons and her team's MVP for four years in cross country and two years in spring track.

MATT ATTAR (CLASS OF 1988)
Attar was a two-year All-State player, who captained the 1988 Durfee state championship team. Matt finished his career with 1,147 points, which is among the top ten in Hilltopper history. He also blocked 212 shots and averaged just less than 20 points per game while compiling and amazing 60 percent shooting average and was his team's top rebounder.

Matt also established a pair of records in track and field with a 6-foot, 2-inch school mark in the high jump and a sophomore record of 152-feet, 6-inches in the javelin.


COACH JOE "SKIP" LEWIS
The late Joe "Skip" Lewis was an outstanding baseball coach who led Durfee to the 1971 state championship, two eastern Massachusetts titles and numerous Bristol County league crowns during a varsity coaching career from 1964 to 1981. A pitcher at Coyle High School, Lewis went on to win All-America honors at Duke University before signing a professional contract with the Detroit Tigers. After an arm injury ended his playing days, Lewis devoted his baseball career to coaching and in addition to an 18-year career at Durfee, coached in the Detroit Tigers minor league system and the Cape Cod League.


1977 STATE CHAMPION BASKETBALL TEAM

1977 Boys Basketball Team Pic

The members of the 1977 unbeaten boys basketball team won 26 straight games enroute to a state championship. The team also won the Eastern Massachusetts Division One South title after capturing the Southeastern Massachusetts Conference Division One crown.
