CHRIS DARMODY, Class of 1982

Chris was a three-year starting tackle for the Hilltoppers, earning All-Scholastic honors in the Southeastern Massachusetts Conference two consecutive season. The recipient of the Donald Trevisano Trophy as the 1981 most outstanding lineman, he also was awarded the Jake Reagan Award as the Hilltoppers most valuable player and was durfee's representative for the Vince Lombardi Award. Chris also completed three seasons in indoor track, where he established a record in the shot put, qualifying and competing in the State Meet in that event.

CARLTON FITZGERALD, Class of 1967

Carlton excelled in football and baseball and played three seasons on the hard-wood. He was named the Hilltoppers' most valuable player on the gridiron, where he was selected to the All-Bristol County team as a junior and senior. He was also an All-Bristol County League two-year first team choice in baseball and a member of Durfee's state championship basketball team as a junior.

 

 

 


John Nolan Pic

JOHN NOLAN, Class of 1983

John still holds the Durfee High 1000-yard run record of 2:29:9, which he set in 1983. It is the longest-standing indoor track record at Durfee. Named the winter track most valuable player as junior and senior, Nolan established himself as a premier scholastic competitor in the 1000-yard run. John also excelled in cross-country and was selected on all area newspapers' All-Scholastic teams in both cross-country and track. He won two Southeastern Massachusetts Conference championships in that event.

Cathy Karl-Noversa Pic

CATHERINE KARL-NOVERSA, Class of 1985

Cathy is among the most outstanding female athletes ever to emerge from Durfee. A four-year, three-sports star, she was named as her teams' most valuable player in volleyball and basketball in 1985 and also softball in 1984 and 1985. She helped Durfee win a South Sectional volleyball championship in 1982; a South Sectional basketball crown in 1983; and a runner-up position in the 1985 State Softball Tournament.

PATRICK STEPHENSON, Class of 1982

Pat was among the best wrestlers ever produced at Durfee, compiling an amazing 55-4 record over two full season, including a Massachusetts state championship in 1981. He holds the Hilltopper record for most wins in a season (28) and most points in a season (70), which he set as a junior and equaled as a senior. He was named to the All-State first team and had a perfect 25-0 dual meet record and won two South Sectional titles and a pair of Lex King Souter tournament championship while wearing the Red & Black.
