21^st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Grant Program at Doran

 

 

 

The after-school program at the Doran Community School offers students the opportunity to gain confidence as they engage in the enrichment programs that are offered; e.g., STEM Challenges, Art From Many Cultures, Computer Programming/Engineering & Robotics, etc. 

In addition to the enrichment portion which allows students to delve into new learning experiences, students are given assistance with homework, guidance in working with their fellow students, and socialization outside of the structure of the school day. As the school year progresses, the growth in students becomes obvious as they begin to “open up” to one another and to the staff. The staff is dedicated to creating a safe, fun, and nurturing environment. They engage inclusively with all students. Additionally, having staff fluent in other languages allows our ELL students to feel welcomed, accepted, and acknowledged.
