Early Childhood Programs
Kristen Farias, Director
Welcome to the Fall River Public School District’s Early Childhood Programs. We work to ensure that all families with children prenatal through 8 years old have access in their community to the support and services that are essential to their success.
We provide information on school readiness activities, integrated preschool programs, developmental screenings, Preschool and Kindergarten registration, play & learn groups, early education and care programs, state-wide centralized wait list for child care vouchers, family literacy programs, newsletters, adult literacy programs and much more.
This program helps families who do not have access to educational resources in the community to prepare their children to enter school ready to succeed from home.
If you are a stay-at-home parent or caregiver of a child 0-5 years, please join us at one or more of our free Play & Learn Groups.
The Fall River Public Schools offers half and full day preschool classrooms focused on the development of each child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills through a developmentally appropriate, play-based program. Enrollment in our preschool classrooms follows a lottery system. For more information on our preschool lottery please click here.
Registration for the preschool lottery will run from January 3 through March 31. Applications received after March 31 will be placed on a wait list. Children must be 4 years old on or before September 1 to be eligible for the preschool lottery. Please click on the link below to register for the lottery. Staff from the Early Childhood Office will be contacting registered families to schedule an appointment for a developmental screening beginning February 1. Final information on the lottery and school placements will be provided to families in early June.
