Samuel Watson Elementary School

But our learning shouldn't end...

The “SUMMER SLIDE” describes what happens when young minds rest for three months.  However, Watson believes there is no better time than this summer to begin helping our children bridge the gap in learning between the end of one school year and the beginning of the next one.  Children, who READ during the summer gain reading skills, while those who do not often slide backward.

To help prevent Watson students from losing ground to summer slide, we have compiled a variety of activities that our students and parents can use to keep learning fun throughout the summer break.

  1. Students will need to read at least 1 book, from the list below, and complete the summer reading packet sent home with your child at the end of the year.
