Breakfast will be from 7:55 A.M. - 8:05 A.M. Please enter using the cafeteria entrance. Students will be dismissed at 2:52 P.M. Monday - Friday. We will be dismissed from 1H on the large playground. Please make sure you check in with me before dismissing your child. If your child is being dismissed early or by another person or mode of transportation, please call the main office.
A homework packet and reading log will go home every Monday and is due back to school every Friday. Homework will reflect skills we are learning about and working on in class. It is important that the homework is completed every week along with the reading log
In addition, your child will be receiving a B.E.E. (Bring Everything Everyday) folder. Your child is responsible for bringing the folder back and forth from home to school everyday. Your child will be provided with the first folder if lost or misplaced, it is your responsibility to replace the folder.
English Language Arts
We will be using Reading Street Curriculum for our English Language Arts Curriculum. Reading Street has five main units that each have an overall question that we will focus on. Our first unit will be focusing on how people and animals are important to one another.
High Frequency Words
We will be learning 134 words High Frequency Words this year. This will help your child become a better reader, writer and speller. It is important that you practice every day. Below is a list of words your child should have mastered in Kindergarten.

At home, have your child:
find words in newspapers, magazines etc, write sight words using shaving cream, sand, crayons, wikki sticks etc, play games using sight words instead of cards in game.
Our focus in Math will be counting forward and backwards and read and writing numerals in the range of 1-120, skip counting by 2's, 5's & 10's, build numbers to 20 using math racks, base 10 and other manipulatives and addition and subtraction word problems within 20.
At home have your child:
practice creating & solving word problems, counting from various starting points, asking how many more/less within 20, counting/subtracting 2 groups.
