- Non-fiction pieces related to slave trade, slavery and Underground Railroad
- Various historical texts including Emancipation Proclamation, Reconstruction, Segregation, Sharecropping and the Great Depression
- Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry
- Independent research and presentation.
