Artist of the Week

Anecia Collins - KH

As part of a unit on Black History Month, the children created African Lion Masks. Masks and face painting are an important part of African religious and ceremonial life. Wood, ivory, bone and metal are used to make masks. Some even have hair, feathers and beads attached to them. Anecia's mask was made using a paper plate (circle) and other basic shapes, along with crayons and yarn.

Abraham Lincoln
Presented by Historical Perspectives for Children

On January 27, Abraham Lincoln visited Tansey students. An actor from Historical Perspectives for Children, portraying Abraham Lincoln, taught children about Lincoln's life from his childhood through his presidency. He even taught them some traditional dances from the 1800's.
