A Message from James Tansey Principal,

Dr. Nicholas Bretz

Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),

Welcome back to another academic year! We as a learning community have been working throughout this summer to gain new resources and approaches to support and excel the learning of each and every student. It is my goal as principal to assist each family to continue to build a partnership within our school community. Within this partnership, we can work together to support the diverse needs of each of our children. Parents, faculty, staff, and administration are stakeholders that play a key role to encourage our students to think critically, promote understanding of others, and acquire skills to be successful within the classroom. Within this partnership, we can nurture the development and educational growth of each individual child. It is up to us as a community to afford every child with opportunities to learn new ideas, interact with others, become social/ emotionally aware, safe, and feel empowered to excel beyond their potential.

Beyond academics, all students must become independent and knowledgeable of themselves.  Allowing students to understand the way they think, offering tools to assist them to seek support, and become confident in their abilities is essential. To support student development, all students will be welcomed everyday through our morning meeting. The morning meeting supports the transition of students from home to school. Our meetings will target key characteristics and foster the building of relationships and culture within our classrooms and school community. Such practices will assist us in creating a safe and focused learning environment. As we continue to engage all learners, we will refine our practices to provide a high-quality instruction that builds upon the developmental levels of our children within each grade. We will continue to monitor each child’s academic progress and provide targeted intervention when necessary. In addition, we have assessed our current schedule to make adjustments throughout the day to allow all students with minimal transitions/ distractions, ways to stay energized, and more time on learning. We are excited for our students and families to meet our new faculty and staff.

As the first day of school quickly approaches (Wednesday, September 3 Grades 1-5; Wednesday, September 10 Grade K), we are excited to begin the next chapter in your child’s education.

In the interest of our students,

Dr. Nicholas Bretz
Principal
