Standards for College Admissions
Have you researched the admissions requirements at the colleges you are considering? Do you know what each college is looking for in their applicants? Each college has different standards for class rank, GPA, SAT scores, etc. Consult www.collageboard.com to compare their admissions requirements.
Recommendations from the Guidance Department:
- Apply to a range of colleges to ensure a successful match.
- Apply to a diverse group of schools and be realistic about the strengths and weaknesses of your application.
- Apply to one or two Safety Schools- colleges/universities that you feel you will likely be accepted. Your credentials for admissions are higher the school's averages.
- Apply to two to four Good Matches- colleges/universities that you feel are overall academic and social matches for you.
- Apply to one or two Reach Schools- colleges/universities that you feel present an admissions challenge.
