Science Fair 2010
BMC Durfee High School held its second annual Science and Engineering Fair on Friday, January 29, 2010. Fifteen students presented their independent projects. The topics covered a wide range of subjects in physics, chemistry and biology. Each presenter explained and defended their work to an enthusiastic audience of students, faculty members and visitors. Each project was judged several times by a panel that included faculty from our Science Department as well as visitors from Dominion Energy, St. Anne's Hospital, Somerset High School, and the City of Fall River. Judging criteria included the successful application of the scientific method, the completeness of the project, its originality and creativity.
The following prizes were awarded:

First Place: Senior Morgan Fielding for his project on the Photoelectric Effect. He received $200.

Second Place: Junior Evan Darmoudy for his project on Monopolarization of Magnets. He received $100.

Honorable Mention: Senior Steven Tso for his project on the Effect of Temperature change on Resistivity. He received an IPod Shuffle.

Honorable Mention: Senior Andrew Mello for his project entitled Ruben's Tube. He received an IPod Shuffle.
