The Graphic Design Program at Durfee High School is part of the Career, Vocational & Technical Education Department (CVTE). This is a 4 year program that begins freshman year when students enroll in the Graphic Design Exploratory course that is offered Terms 2-3-4 freshman year. The highest ranked students from the exploratory courses are given the opportunity to officially enroll in the program. The program requires 1 period a day, semesters 1 & 2, sophomore, junior, and senior year.
Students taking the program are generally students who want to pursue a career in some form of computer based multimedia arts. Past students have gone on to post-secondary institutions and majored in: Graphic Design, Web Design, Animation, Illustration, Multimedia, and Video Game Development. Even students without an interest in pursuing Graphic Design as a career have found that the training received in the program is extremely valuable and can carry over to any career pathway.
