Fourth Grade Class

We are using all of the math skills we've learned so far this year to solve lots of word problems this term.

We know we need to:

1. READ the problem.

2. THINK about what needs to be done.

3. SOLVE the problem.

4. CHECK the work.

Ask us to explain some of these problems to you!

READING

We have a brand new Reading program called Reading Street. Every story starts off with a question that we discuss every day. Ask us about our amazing words and our concept map. We are also practicing our fluency. Reading out loud to a younger brother or sister is a great way to improve.

We can tell you all about the importance of sequencing, summarizing and background knowledge in understanding a story.

Independent Reading at home is also very important. Please make sure reading logs are completed and returned to school.

We are now in 4th term! MATH MCAS takes place the week of May 8

4C will be creating a monthly newspaper. Each student may write an article at home or at recess. They must submit it to me before the end of the month.

-Remember to write a lead, a headline, and a byline.
