The Durfee varsity football team played against the Bridgewater-Raynham Trojans this past Saturday at Bridgewater High School.

The Hilltoppers won the opening coin toss and elected to receive the ball to begin the game. They went three quick plays without earning a first down and  were forced to punt the ball away. The Trojans then scored on their first play from scrimmage, a 44 yard run from running back Brandon Gallagher. A good Trojan point after kick made the score 7-0.

Durfee’s next drive started back at their own nine yard line, and they were able to earn a few first downs and make their way to their 47 yard line before they were forced to punt for the second time. With possession of the ball, Bridgewater was able to score again on a deep pass, making the score 14-0.

The Trojans were able to score two more touchdowns before the half, one coming from a one yard run. The Toppers were able to respond with a touchdown of their own when junior quarterback Travellis Oliver threw a short pass to senior captain Raheem Barzey, who broke several tackles and then ran 83 yards down field to put 6 points up on the board. This was added with senior captain Emmanuel Fernandes’ successful point after kick to make the score 28-7 going into halftime.

The Trojans received the ball to start the half, and scored the final final touchdown of the game on the first drive that went 56 yards. The Toppers were able to stop the two-point conversion to make the final score 34-7.
