The first period seemed hopeful for the Hilltoppers as they held off the Falcons fairly well, keeping it a scoreless game through half of the first period.  Puck movement was clean for the most part and each team had their number of scoring chances.

Once again the Falcons were the first team to capitalize on their opportunities making it 1-0 seven minutes and forty seconds into the game.  What seemed like a promising first period turned into a rocky start when the Falcons managed to slide another two goals by Durfee’s senior goalie, Chris Bonanca.
Despite allowing three goals in the first period Bonanca was able to keep the tally to just one during the second period.  Clearing out the puck and breaking into the zone cleanly is a reoccurring problem for the Hilltoppers.  Sloppy passes and poor puck possession held Durfee to another scoreless period.
The Hilltoppers started off the third period with a change in goal putting junior captain Ryan Levasseur in net.  Unfortunately for Durfee, Dighton was successful at putting the puck in the back of the net for yet another period.  They scored another four goals in the period with the last goal coming in at less than a minute left.  The Falcons held the Hilltoppers scoreless for all three periods taking an 8-0 win.
“We’re having trouble scoring goals right now.  Our goalies deserve better from us but we’re working on it,” noted senior forward, Tyler Pacheco.
Durfee, now 0-5, will face Big 3 rival New Bedford High School on Wednesday, January 4.  The puck drops at 8pm in New Bedford as the boys look for their first win of the season.
