Hilltoppers Swim Their Way to Big 3

On  Thursday, September 22, at the Karen Jarabek pool, the Durfee girls' swim team defeated Brockton to gain the title of Big 3 Champions. The Durfee girls defeated Brockton with a score of 110-75, which was a great win for Durfee after defeating New Bedford the week before.

In the Brockton meet, The Hilltoppers' 200 m medley relay team, consisting of junior Rochelle Gaudette, freshman Caroline Batista, junior Sarah Mederios, and senior Lexi Mendonca, came in first place. Batista then placed first in the 200 individual medley. Mendonca came in first place in the 50 m freestyle.
Next came diving, where senior Lindsay Mello placed first and helped Durfee to catch up to Brockton's score. When diving had ended, the teams were neck and neck with a tied score of 34-34.
Mendonca achieved her third win of the meet when she placed first in the 100 m freestyle. Later, Batista, Mendonca, senior Elisha Griffin, and sophomore Tori Mancini, all contributed to the Durfee team placing first in the 200 m Freestyle Relay.
Medeiros succeeded in having a back to back win when she placed first in the 100 m backstroke. Following Mederios was Guadette and senior Anita Pechenenko; the Hilltoppers' clean sweep of the 100 m backstroke secured the win for Durfee.
Batista then placed first in the 100 m breaststroke, followed by junior Sarah Biltcliffe.
In the final event of the meet, the 400 Freestyle Relay, Durfee's Medeiros, Griffin, Gaudette, and junior Claudia Souza, placed first to finalize Durfee's success at the final Big 3 meet of the season.
