Volleyball makes it eight straight

On Wednesday, May 4, the Durfee Boys' Volleyball team extended their win streak with a 25-19, 25-22, 25-22 sweep against perennial powerhouse Barnstable High School to improve their record to 10-3, while the Red Raiders dropped to 11-2.

Rami Akouri finished the game with ten kills, while Rakeem Tavares had eight. Jeff Daddona, who recently got his 1,000th career assist, finished with 25 assists. The team was able to play together and step up when needed. 

Chad Pires replaced Jordan Rego, who broke his hand the practice before, at the libero spot. Tarek Assaker was also able to help the team with excellent back row passing. Saffa Tenghbeh and Danny Buth led the team in blocks at the net.

On Friday, May 6, the boys were able to avoid a scare when they defeated Wareham High School 25-12, 25-12, 23-25, 23-25, 15-8 in a 3-2 win. The team improved their record to 11-3 and hopes to be in the lead of the Big Three Conference when they square up against rival New Bedford High School Tuesday, May, 10.
