Boys volleyball wins fourth straight

After winning two straight games against Randolph and Wareham High Schools, the Durfee Boys’ Volleyball team had an impressive 25-9, 25-12, 25-14 three game sweep against Taunton on April 26.The Hilltoppers then kept their streak alive by defeating Quincy High School the following day.

The Hilltoppers were able to make several service runs to secure the victory. Rami Akouri served points 7-16 in game one, giving his team a 16-3 lead. Jeff Daddona, who finished the match with 35 assists, served points 16-23 in the second game. The Hilltoppers were able to avoid giving away points by making minimal mistakes.

The Toppers were superb at the net, with numerous blocks and kills. Tim Ponte finished the game with eight kills and a pair of blocks. Rakeem Tarvares and Akouri both had nine kills. “It was an all around great team win. Everyone stepped up and did what they had to do.”

Following the win against Taunton, the team was able to defeat Quincy High School with an impressive 25-21, 30-28, 29-31, 25-21 win.  The win was fueled by back row passing by Jordan Rego and Chad Pires. Daddona finished the game with 48 assists. Akouri led the team with 15 kills, while Ponte added four.  The Hilltoppers look to win their fifth straight when they square up against North Quincy High School on April 29, who defeated them 3-2 in their first match.
