Toppers track stays perfect

On Friday, January 7, the Durfee boys' track team reamined perfect on the season as they defeated the Dartmouth High School Indians (64-31) during a dual meet at the Reggie Lewis Althetic Center in Boston.

Cameron Sevier won the long jump with a leap of 20 ft. 2 inches. Sevier also won the 300 meter race with a time of 37.0 sec. Enrique Brown was second to Sevier in both events, with a time of 37.1 sec in the 300 meter race. The 4 x 200 team of Sevier, Brown, Fritz Gustave, and Jordan Dunmore won the event with a time of 1:34.6. Gustave also won the 55 meters (6.83). Jeremey Foldger, Thomas Helley, Chris Whitty, and Samnall Dueng won the 4 x 400. Dueng also went on to win the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:56.6. The other first place winners for the Toppers were Whitty in the mile (4:54), Antonio Cabral in the two mile event with a 11:09 time, and Tresley Dupont won the shot put event with a heave of 50-3.75 ft.

Trey Davidson, who finished in third place for the Durfee Hilltoppers in the shot put event said "It was a great win for the team, and we are working harder and harder each day."

On January 10, Durfee defeated Barnstable High School 76-23. With the win, Durfee improved to 3-0. The Hilltoppers swept three events, the 300 meter race (Sevier, Helley, and Jeff Daddona), the 55 meter race (Brown,Gustave, and Dunmore), and the long jump event (Todd Peixinho, Deung, and Gustave). Individual winners for the Hilltoppers were Whitty (mile,4:42), Nick Silva (55 hurdles,8.81), D'Andre Quinnerly (1000,2:45.4), Deung (600,1:30.3), Dunmore (high jump) and Trey Davidson (shot put,46-9). Durfee won both of the relay events, with a 4 x 200 team of Brown, Helley, Silva and Gustave, and a 4 x 400 team of Whitty, Deung, Quinnerly, and Chris Rondon.

Durfee's next meet will be the Big Three Championships on Thursday January 20 at Wheaton College.
