As the school year is coming to a close, especially for seniors, students will be looking for things to do with their spare time. Though the beach is always great, when the weather is not-so-nice or it’s too hot to be in the sun’s rays, the movie theater is the place to be. New movies are always being released, and these are just a few of the many.

Marvel Studios presents Marvel’s The Avengers featuring the iconic superheroes, played by Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, and Jeremy Renner. When an unexpected enemy emerges, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to save the world from disaster. When the recruitment effort begins, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow avenge. This action packed, PG-13 film is assembling in theaters on May 4.

Hick, a movie for a more mature audience, features Luli, played by Chloë Grace Moretz. Moretz plays a small town teen who runs away to Las Vegas. Leaving behind her troubled parents, and armed with her smarts, money, and a pistol, she hikes her way west. During her travels she crosses paths with Glenda, played by Blake Lively, a cocaine addict, and Eddie, played by Eddie Redmayne, an unstable rebel. Based on the novel by Andrea Portes, this story pulls you into a world of drugs, murder, and seduction. This film is not yet rated, but is bursting into theaters on May 11.

If you need a good laugh What to Expect When You’re Expecting is a heartfelt, big screen comedy about five couples who face the challenges of upcoming parenthood and realize what it takes to parent a child, or children. Dance show star Evan and TV fitness expert Jules realize that their celebrity lives don’t stand a chance against the demands of pregnancy. Wendy, a baby-crazy advocate and author, gets a taste of her own advice when hormones take over her body. Wendy’s husband tries not to be outdone by his competitive alpha-dad and his much younger wife, Skyler, who are expecting twins. Holly, the photographer, is prepared to adopt a child halfway around the world, but her husband Alex is not, while rival chefs Rosie and Marco’s one night stand results in an unexpected package. These father’s join a new support group where dads tell the truths about fatherhood. The celebrity moms include Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Elizabeth Banks, January Jones, and Anna Kendrick. This film is being delivered into theaters on May, 18.

Whether you’re laughing at the parenthood mistakes of a couple, being sucked into the drama in Hick, or sitting at the edge of your seat because the iconic superheroes are close to saving the world, there is a movie for you. With school almost ending and summer only a month away, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the new movies that are hitting the theaters.
