A romantic thrill ride filled with laughter and tears, Safe Haven certainly did not disappoint. Walking into the movie theater, looking up at the show times the choice was obvious, whether it would live up to it's hype was the question. We strapped ourselves in and prepared for 120 minutes of another sappy love movie. However, that was not the case and it's safe to say that Safe Haven was worth it.

On Thursday, September 2, auditions were held for the second annual 'Durfee's Got Talent' show in the Durfee Nagle Auditorium.  Mr. and Mrs. Bigelow run the show as a fundraiser for the Durfee Theatre Company. From the auditions, sixteen acts will continue on to the show in hopes of winning $100, the first place prize.



The Apes Are Back!

Director Rupert Wyatt brings back the cult classic Planet of the Apes in the 2011 reboot Rise of the Planet of the ApesThe film was filled with sci-fi elements and amazing CGI effects. The film is number nine at the box office this week with 88% of the total audience. Engaging action scenes, the most noted one being the between the humans and the apes, are well thought out and greatly executed. 

UMass Dartmouth invites Durfee students to graphic design show

Durfee Theatre triumphs in METG Festival

The B.M.C. Durfee Theatre Company has participated in the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild’s (METG) High School Festival for decades. Most recently, in 2008, the company made it to the festival's final round in Boston with a satirical piece called The Bible: The Complete Word of God (Abridged), ranking above more than 100 schools in Massachusetts. In the two years that followed, the company was halted at the preliminary round. But this year, after a great deal of rigid determination and collective thought, Durfee made it onto the semi-final round on Saturday, March 5, with an original piece called The Mind Café.

On Friday September 24, at 7:00 pm, B.M.C. Durfee High School held the first “Durfee’s Got Talent,” a competition between fifteen talented Durfee students.
