Introduction to Web Design is intended to teach the student the basics of WebPage Development and WebSite Management. After a brief review of hardware and software, the student will study the origin of the internet and its' basic terminology. The students will learn the basics of HTML coding and the Adobe CS3 Suite. The final project will be a Digital Portfolio reflecting the student's life academic achievements, extracurricular involvement and future career goals.
Management & EntrepreneurshipThis course is designed to make students competent and efficient in managing their own personal and business affairs. Areas covered include maintaining a checking account, loans and mortgages, developing an business plan, developing a business portfolio, being a wise consumer, and career planning and the study of occupations. This course is intended for personal use and is a requirement for all career education students.
Informational Technology Services ExploratoryThis ten week course is offered as an elective to all Durfee Discovery Students. It explores aspects of Hardware, Software, Desktop Publishing, Web Design, and Office Technology. An overview of Career Opportunities, Pathways, Educational Requirements for the industry is presented to the students.
Durfee DiscoveryThis is an exploratory course for freshman. Students will enter my lab and be given a quick overview of the subjects taught and the projects developed in each class. Each student will make a promotional flyer and matching web page.
Overall, students will rotate through vocational, visual arts, music and theater classes. Students will explore visual arts instruction in cartooning, pottery, tile design, calligraphy and use a wide variety of mediums employed in visual arts courses. Students will explore music/ theater courses in guitar, piano,drums, audio recording, theory, band, orchestra, chorus, theater, technical theater, American film and the study of popular music in society. This course will enable students to make informed decisions concerning future electives at Durfee.
