Early Education and Care

Upon completion of this program, students are eligible to become certified as a teacher through the Office for Child Care Services.

02234 Child Care I (Sophomore Year) 1 Credit


This class introduces the student to the concepts of child development. Students will learn to develop developmentally appropriate activities and will have limited hands on experience in a preschool setting.

02332 Child Care II (Junior Year, College Prep) 3 Credits

This course promotes a further understanding of the Physical, Social, Emotional, and Intellectual Development of the preschool age child Students demonstrate the development of basic skills in the on site laboratory preschool. Note: Students will be required to have a uniform as determined by the instructor.

02432 Child Care III (Senior Year, College Prep) 4 Credits


This course promotes a further understanding of the Physical, Social, Emotional, and Intellectual Development ofthe child from Birth to age 5. Affiliations at community Child Care centers enable the student to apply knowledge and skills learned in the classroom. Students will create lesson plans, a professional portfolio and a final project that will apply research skills and technology.
