Flip flops should not be worn to school.  Students are active at recess and also climb stairs throughout their day.  For their safety, sneakers should be worn at all times.

Homework is given Mondays through Thursdays unless otherwise specified by me.  Check and initial your child's agenda everyday.  This way you are aware of homework assignments, spelling words or other notes I may have written to you.

Reading:  Our new reading program, Reading Street, is going quite well.  Students are beginning to use High-Frequency Words and Amazing Words when they are speaking, reading and writing.  Every week a new set of high-frequency words and amazing words are given, so ask your child to review and use these words with you as much as possible.

In writing, students have been working on creating friendly letters, expository text and writing reviews.

Math - In math, we are beginning our unit on early multiplication.

Health - Every Friday until May 23, Mrs. Turner from UMASS Amherst comes in to teach the students about good nutrition.  To see what students learned every Friday, check out their folders for the hand-out that is sent home every week.

Independent Reading - Students should be independently reading at home every night for a minimum of 20 minutes.
